Our Mission

Adventures Northwest is a quarterly magazine dedicated to the exploration and appreciation of the magnificent landscapes of Cascadia.

As the region’s leading outdoor magazine since 2006, we’re a little different. Our passion is to help our readers discover—or re-discover—deep connections to the natural world, to dive deep and embrace terra incognita. We’re more interested in life-affirming experiences than death-defying exploits.

Our mission is to give expression to the transformative beauty of the natural world through compelling essays, short stories, photo essays, nature-inspired art, meditations and poetry. To inform, enlighten and inspire.

Edward Abbey sums it up for us: “All we have, it seems, is the beauty of life in art and nature, and the love that these inspire.”

Every issue features world-class writers such as Robert Michael Pyle, Tom Robbins, David Guterson and Lawrence Millman, poets like Kim Stafford, Cameron Scott and James Bertolino; well-respected nature photographers including Bruce W.
