John D’Onofrio: The Remarkable Tombstone Range

Located in the northern Yukon Territory, the Tombstone Range has been described as “the Patagonia of Canada” for its collection of soaring monoliths rising above the treeless tundra –  an otherworldly landscape of harsh beauty. The park consists of wilderness on a truly epic scale and is home to a virtually untouched ecosystem that includes grizzly bears, wolves, wolverines and caribou.

And amongst a select cadre of autumn color cognoscenti, the Tombstones are quietly emerging as a world-class destination for brilliant fall colors.

John D’Onofrio’s photography explores the forms, textures and colors of the natural world.  Trained as a painter, his work has been widely exhibited and has appeared in calendars and magazines and been utilized in the film and television industry, North Cascades National Park and the U.S. Forest Service.
