How to Plan the Perfect Ski Weekend in Alpine Valley

How to Plan the Perfect Ski Weekend in Alpine Valley

There’s something so special about taking a winter trip or a trip to somewhere that will make you feel like it’s the middle of a crisp, white winter. The hills of Southern Wisconsin provide just that spirit of escape…the kind where you’re in your cords in the morning and sipping apres drinks by the evening (or even earlier if you like!). The laughter echoes on the slopes, and after they close, it moves to the lodge where late-night revels abound. Where is this magical place, you ask? Alpine Valley Ski Resort.

If you’re ready to get a snow day or two in, enjoy snow sports and outdoor activities, and an incredible level of service, this is the place to be. To help you plan your perfect weekend ski escape, we’ve got all the tips you need for perfect planning. Let’s take a look.

Who Goes to Alpine Valley?

If you love skiing and other speedy or slow winter pursuits, having snowball fights; sippin’ on hot chocolate, or something a little stronger if you’re over 21; relaxing with an incredible view and a good book; enjoying heavenly comfort meals and so much more, you’re the kind of person who comes to Alpine Valley. Families with kids, couples looking for a romantic retreat, or solo travellers looking for a little me time and a chance to embrace nature all find what they are looking for at the resort.

How To Plan Your Alpine Valley Trip

Fly Right

Every good trip begins and ends with choosing the best way to get where you’re going. Whether you’re traveling to Wisconsin from the States or somewhere further afield, you are likely to need to board a plane for at least a portion of the trip. Here’s where our advice will come in, because plane trips can often be a source of irritation and stress…hardly the ideal way to kick things off or wrap them up with a nice bow!

Travellers with some travel smarts can avoid this, though, by choosing a private flight instead of a commercial one. A reliable private jet hire company is simple enough to find in 2026, and thankfully, the area surrounding the resort has access to a number of both public and private airports within close proximity. From there, it’s a very short drive or, if you’re feeling like a little “treat yourself” moment is in order, an even shorter helicopter charter ride to the resort to begin your vacation.

A Slopeside Stay

A great ski weekend begins with the convenience of proximity. When you stay on site at Alpine Valley, you are mere steps away from the slopes at all times. No wasting time loading your gear into a car and taking a long, slow drive; no trekking to the parking lot in your ski boots just immediate and convenient access. Choosing cozy lodge accommodation allows guests to wake up and be on their preferred slope in minutes, take an easy midday break in the comfort of their own home away from home, and enjoy their favourite après-ski drink without the worry of getting behind the wheel.

Do be aware that stays during peak ski season (December through March) require a two-night minimum, so booking in advance is a good idea for peace of mind and to ensure that you get the room you want. There are ski and stay packages that can add enormous value to your trips, so do some research before you book.

It’s Time To Hit the Slopes

If you’re not an expert skier but still want to be involved in family slope time or even improve your skills a little, you’re in the right place. The resort is home to more than 20 gorgeous, scenic, tree-lined runs and every kind of terrain that every level of skier and snowboarder could ask for.

  • Beginners can build their confidence on the gentle slopes
  • Intermediate skiers can cruise down the rolling runs
  • Terrain riders can test their skill against our well-designed features, designed for enjoyment
  • Night skiing is also available, of course, and will add a whole new layer to your experience
  • Complete beginners can book lessons with professional instructors who work out of the resort at an adult or kids’ level. Excellent equipment is also available to hire

Consider your level of interest and expertise when you book to ensure that you have access to whatever amenities and classes you need.

Embrace Après Lifestyle

Every good ski weekend has one thing in common: excellent après ski. French for “after ski”, this long-held custom originated in the European Alps when gatherings after a day on the slopes began to gain in commercial popularity. Now après ski can be whatever you make it and conform to your own preferences, but a hot meal, a cold craft beer, mulled wine, cocktails, and hot chocolate for the younger guests are all excellent options. The lodge offers guests access to an indoor pool and hot tub, which can be an excellent choice for warming up after a long, cold day, too.

Remember to Take Time to Chill

With so much to occupy your time, you may forfeit to take a quiet moment for rest and relaxation… don’t do that! Give yourself a few hours of downtime by the fire or just resting by the window, watching the snow fall outside. Chill time makes a weekend, so remember to include some for your mental and physical well-being.

Alpine Valley Awaits

Now you know! Your Alpine Valley trip can be as fun and fulfilling as you need it to be. Get ready to enjoy convenience, comfort, luxury, and some of the best skiing in America.
