Jason Rinne
Creative Director
Growing up as the only child of a wildlife conservation artist and an avid hiker, Jason Rinne spent his younger years exploring the mountains and beaches of Oregon. While attending WSU as a Graphic Design major, his love for the outdoors was reinforced while crewing in the Snake River Canyon and spending two summers working, hiking, and biking in the Olympic Peninsula. As an adult, this passion for the outdoors led him naturally to a career at Adventures Northwest Magazine, and he and his wife now enjoy instilling their blended family with a passion for the natural world.

Oksana Brown
Accounting
Oksana Brown loves being outdoors. Hiking, walking on a beach, wild berry picking, and mushroom hunting (or at least a short dog walk if she doesn’t have time for anything else) always makes her happy. Her profession, however, is not very outdoorsy: creating invoices, paying bills, and reconciling accounts keep her in the office, but her work with Adventures Northwest allows her to contribute to something she is passionate about!
Alicia Jamtaas
Copy Editor
Alicia Jamtaas has been writing since she was twelve years old. After she moved to Bellingham, some of the best local creative writing instructors helped hone her craft. Through time, six members of two brilliant writing groups discovered they greatly appreciated her editing skills. Although these days she is more often found in the kitchen making handcrafted soap or in the garden coaxing vegetables to grow, putting pen to paper still brings her great joy.
Roger Gilman
Poetry Editor
Roger Gilman is a published poet and former poetry editor of The Chicago Review. He teaches classes at the Hugo House Literary Center in Seattle and is a Professor of the Philosophy of Biology and Dean Emeritus of Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. He is a mountain climber and back-country trekker, exploring the Pacific Northwest’s wild mountains and rivers, islands and beaches, high deserts, and deep canyons.
Cathy Grinstead
Social Media
Cathy Grinstead was born and raised in northern California, where she began a life-long love affair with backpacking in the Sierras. She and her husband relocated to Bellingham in 2018, drawn by its scenic beauty and small-town feel. Hiking is her passion, but she also enjoys snowshoeing, kayaking and outrigger paddling, studying geology, and travel (as long as there’s hiking involved)—essentially anything outside. Exploring the Cascades, the San Juan Islands and everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer has been all she’d hoped for and more.
