Gear Spotlight: Benchmade Bugout Knife

Out of all the gear I own, the Benchmade Bugout Knife is the one item I consistently carry and use every single day. Its simple design is exactly what makes it such a great EDC (Every Day Carry) for me. The blade opens smoothly with one hand, the grip is comfortable in just about any position, and the overall size is perfect for daily pocket carry or tossing into a backpack before heading into the mountains.

My Bugout has been with me on nearly every camping and climbing trip I’ve taken over the last four years. I went with the half-serrated version because it makes quick work of cord and rope, adding a little extra versatility when making gear adjustments in the field.

The blade is really the standout feature. Even after years of regular use, it’s held an edge remarkably well and has only needed sharpening a handful of times. Benchmade’s lifetime free sharpening service is another big plus, especially if sharpening knives isn’t your thing.

Whether I’m slicing apples and cheese on a hike, trimming cord, or whittling around the campfire, the Bugout always seems to be the right tool for the job. For its build quality, lightweight feel, and versatility, it’s still my favorite everyday carry.
